The sewer system has three main functions: collection, transportation, and treatment. Ideally,
gravity is the primary method of collecting and transporting wastewater. Sewer lines from
homes to the street’s main are inclined downwards, allowing sewage flow. The sewer main is
also structured the same way, with pipes gradually increasing, leading towards the treatment
plant, typically located in a low-lying area.
Once the wastewater reaches the processing facility, it undergoes multiple treatment phases.
Initially, it is allowed to settle, separating heavy and light solids, similar to septic tanks. Next,
bacteria are used to break down organic materials, just as Bio-Clean does. Finally, chemicals are
used to remove any remaining contaminants and bacteria, ensuring that they do not pose a risk
to the surrounding community when discharged.
