Advanced Video Pipe Inspections for Solving the Toughest Plumbing Problems
Video pipe inspections are used to visually inspect the inside of pipelines. Modern technologies allow video pipe inspections to examine the interior of the pipelines harmlessly. To perform this process correctly, a service truck, cable, winch and an inspection camera are necessary.
The service truck holds a small generator for the power supply, an air-conditioned unit for the video equipment, and a computer to display the recording.
The video cable and winch are located at the back end of the truck. The winch allows for lowering and recovery of the inspection equipment out of the pipeline, some trucks contain a powered winch. The inspection camera contains lights and has a rotating head, this allows the camera head to pan and tilt giving the inspectors a detailed view of the pipelines. The camera is connected back to the computers display equipment via the cable wound upon the winch.
Typically, the analysis of the pipeline's interior is carried out at the time of the inspection by the camera operator. However, inspections are always recorded and saved for review.
After the pipeline analysis is conducted various types of repairs or improvements may be made to the pipe. Repairs can range from a simple cleaning to extensive lining repairs and/or possibly overall pipe replacement.
